Club News - 2011 | | League Winners!!! |
25th January 2011
The Club extends its congratulations to Jon Cook's Senior Team 2 who, on Saturday 22nd January won through to the final of the Worthing & District Football League AM Trophies Benevolent Cup Final where there opposition will be Lancing United C.
Playing away against Del United, Jon's team always had the upper hand going ahead with an early goal from Archie Neal, and although the team had the better of the exchanges for the 1st half it wasn't until the end of the half they scored their second though Alex Fair.
At the start of the second half the home team had their best period of play in the game and it was no surprise when they reduced the arrears. Adur, however, replied in the best way possible with their third goal from Ron MacElwee with their first attack after conceding. Joe McCloughlin added Adur's fourth.
Man of the match was Adur Athletic captain Freddie Mees.
Cup Final details will be placed on this website as soon as they are known

| | Team 2: Cup Final Winners! |
25th March 2011
On Monday 21st February 2011 at a cold Woodside Road Adur Athletic Team 2 finally won the Club's first trophy of the season, the AM Trophies Benevolent Cup, beating Lancing United C on penalties, this after full time and extra time had failed to produce a winner.
The only surprise to those who watched the game was that Adur failed to produce a winner in normal time, and also in extra time for they were the better team on the day but as we all know that is not always enough and its goals that count.
Adur went behind early in the game when sloppy defending allowed Lancing United to score a headed goal from a free kick taken some 30 yards from goal.
In the 21st minute Adur should have drawn level when Alex Fair dribbled the ball through several defenders and with only the 'keeper to beat fired the ball wide of the goal.
Early in the second half Adur's football paid off when Sam Dudeck netted to level the score. Shortly after Adur went ahead when Steve Mees got his head on a ball to find the net.
Throughout the second half Adur continued to create chances but their failure to capitalise came back to haunt them when Lancing Number 11 broke through the centre of Adur's defence to level the score.
During Extra Time Adur were again the better footballing team and although they managed to find the net near to the end of the second period the goal was ruled offside and, so to penalties which Adur won 4 - 3. Adur's penalty scorers were Dan Stenning, Fred Mees, George Mees and Jacob Cook.
The sponsors Man of the Match award was awarded to Adur Captain Fred Mees who, not for the first time this season, led his team with great determination.
All at Adur Athletic send their congratulations to the team.
